Horse Trail

Another lovely day for the trails, we are heading up the zigzaging Watt Creek trail...

...steep in parts, but in excellent shape,
this well groomed horse trail meanders
through the tree covered mountainside
in Cultus Lake Provincial park.

Nearing the crest of the first climb...

...we can enjoy the views of the Sword fern
which grows abundantly here as a ground cover.

Views Well Earned

A beautiful day for a trail run up Vedder mountain...

...from the Cultus lake side...

... on to the beautiful views on the western side,
looking north towards the Fraser River
and Harrison Lake in the far distance...
...The moss covered rocks were beautiful,
and the sudden drop-off edge
to the valley floor rather dizzying,
but it was the highlight of our 4 hour trek...

A Prairie Scene

A long, straight stretch of prairie road
on a beautiful, cold, winter day
with the mid afternoon sun low on the horizon.
The coldest day we experienced on our Alberta visit
was a bone chilling -37C, with a wind chill of -47C.

Magical Ice Garden

I'm posting some photos my daughter took
on Monday
of my magical ice covered garden...

...the blueberry plants, the Sedums...

...and Japanese Maple.

Early Morning Trail Run

Saturday morning trail run...
...enjoying the view of Cultus Lake down below
in the low valley fog....

...traipsing across a 100ft log...

...a tree fallen many years ago...

...and enjoying the view
which the clear cuts endow us with...

...adding welcome light to the dark forest
high up on Vedder Mountain.
Thank you for visiting my blog today!  :  )
